I'm after some information on the Scarborough Cricket Festival. We tend to only attend international matches so are used to having to buy tickets months in advance. Will we need to buy tickets for the festival? we are looking at attending a couple of days of the county game (v sussex) and the 40 over match on the sunday. I'm struggling to find tickets on the internet. Any help appreciated.

You will have no problem if you simply turn up and pay at the gate.

For a proper down-to-earth cricket atmosphere you can't beat North Marine Road, the last bastion of Yorkshireness. You'll get in no probs, however parking is a different matter altogether...

if your only experience of Professional cricket has been Lords, you might find Scarborough a slightly humbler experience. In my opinion it's infinitely more enjoyable - but it's definitely much more relaxed and easy going. Take a ball with you and you can have a game on the outfield during the lunch interval! It's festival time so look out for Harry Gration and Dickie Bird in the marquees and enjoy the Jazz Band from the Spa.
But be warned - it's always slightly more cold than you imagine it will be - so take at least one extra layer of clothing.
Have a great time - let us know what you think after the game...

BTW the entrance price differs depending on where you want to sit ... its costs more to sit at Trafalgar Square End if you pay on the gate.
And it could be Geoff and it could be John
With a new ball sting in his tail
And it could be me and it could be thee
And it could be the sting in the ale

I'm grateful for the responses so far as I, too, have had immense problems obtaining any festival information from the Scarborough CC pages. Can you confirm that pre-booking is not essential - that we just turn up at the gate. If that be the case has anyone any idea of prices [for my son-law-law and grandson] and what time matches begin/break etc?

Many thanks,

Ian of Haslingden Lancashire [but still a Yorkshire supporter]

From the front of the train station turn right and head down into the town centre shopping precinct (Westborough) past a Nationwide branch and an Abbey National. Continue straight down the main street until you get to the road in front of you (St Thomas Street) just after Marks and Spencers. From there turn left taking you past a Matalan store, the casino and over a mini roundabout onto North Marine road. From there the ground is straight on going past the fire station. The ground is on the left hand side half way along North Marine road.

Hope this helps!
