Surprised to see Ravi Rampaul not back in the Windies current side, had a good 2011. Just needs Yorkshire to show an interest and he'll be back in the team!

He was ill so missed the current match. Expect he'll replace Edwards in the next game.

well based on our track record of signing up former players (Taylor, Gough, Siddy, Jaques, Rudolph) perhaps we can expect to see a return fro Tino Best.

Not playing for the Windies at the moment, a fast bowler who meets our requirement needs, familair with the Headingley ground and is already in Moxons saved numbers on his mobile.

We could then leave him on the sidelines doing drinks duties with Jaques when he arrives

I suspect you're joking but we could do worse...
And he's one of those cricketers that always mkaes things happen.
He'd certainly make us more lively in the field.

yes, I did post initially as tongue firmly in cheek but the more I think back, the more i would prefer to see someone like Tino giving his best, entertaining the crowd, keeping the fielders on their toes instead of the military medium alternatives of OHD, Wardlaw, Pyrah or Patterson.

Plus, I quite like the idea of him clean bowling Cook once again

And on the rare occasions when he bowled well he was actually very good.
and his wicket taking celebrations were just brilliant........!

plus Dizzy may get more out of him than Blain/Oldham did as he can offer greater international experience from a fast bowlers perspective

Oh god - this is sounding like an endorsement for signing him. But if Yaser Arafat is the only alternative....

Can't help but think of the hapless Tino being carted all round the Cheltenham College ground in the CB40 a couple of seasons ago.
However, if I had a first-class century for every time I've sat watching Alan Richardson being hit all over Edgbaston, I'd be Wisden Cricketer of the Decade.

Will always have a soft spot for Tino. Seeing him run a hundred yards in celebration of that wicket at scarborough when he all but joined us on the cafe balcony, after watching the poor sod shivering in the pavillion, was one of the most joyous yorks CCC moments I can recall in many years. My daughter was so excited she fell in love with cricket there and then. Sadly, we both also witnessed the caning at Cheltenham and the magic began to wear off a little.
However, I'm not sure he ever got the time and backing from Moxon and Gale that a bowler of his talent and speed needed. His recent form in forcing his way back into the Windies one day squad may suggest he's tidied up his act a bit. With our difficulties in shifting tailenders over the past couple of seasons we could do a lot worse. If I was batting 8,9,10 or 11 I know who I'd least like to face out of OHD, Patto, Wardlaw and Tino.

Possibility of Bresnan being available for the Bristol match too. From Cricinfo:

"Just as Yorkshire were wrapping up the win, their new overseas fast bowler Mitchell Starc was due to land in the UK ahead of his initial five-week spell as their overseas player. The 22 year-old Australia left-arm quick will make his debut against Gloucestershire at Bristol next week, where he could link up with Tim Bresnan, who bowled only 27 overs in the match as he eased himself carefully back into the season.

"I've spoken to Andy Flower and Geoff Miller, and there's a chance we might have Tim playing just to get some more bowling," confirmed Gillespie."

If Gillespie has actually managed this, then it's a step-change in relations with Team England. If he has done it by design, then it's a piece of excellent management.

If Bresnan is available, who misses out for Starc?

We've got enough batting in that team, so it looks fair enough to me. The only possible problem is Gale batting at 3? Unless McGrath or Ballance move up. Shame that Lyth would miss out again....

I suspect you may be right, but it does alter the balance of the side. I'm sure it won't be long before someone says that we should drop Sayers/Ballance/McGrath/Gale so that Lyth can play.

Bresnan didn't look 'right' at Scarborough. To most of us the 'problem' wasn't 'lack of effort' but someone who hasn't bowled enough in recent months. It must also be said that the wicket didn't really suit faster bowlers, but as was said, an England bowler should be able to addapt to the conditions.
And it could be Geoff and it could be John
With a new ball sting in his tail
And it could be me and it could be thee
And it could be the sting in the ale
