Has something happened to the forum please?

As everyone who logs in knows well all unread posts are shown by a red ball.

But in the last few days the ball has continued to be shown on thread's where I'm the last person to post ... so I then have to go back in & read the post I've just made to remove the notification. I knowits only a minor thing .. but its a pain having to go back when I've posted.
And it could be Geoff and it could be John
With a new ball sting in his tail
And it could be me and it could be thee
And it could be the sting in the ale

Yes, I've just noticed the same thing. and as a side issue I'd still like to register properly and the forum still tells me my email or username is already registered. Is there any way of getting round this? Brian.

It happens to me occasionally. When you log in, after a while (probably a couple of weeks), the forum aotomatically logs you out, your login reverts to guest and the red ball dissapears on all postings. Re-log in again and the red ball re-appears on all unread postings.

To Brian - if you send an email to whiterosecricket@hotmail.co.uk, someone should be able to sort it out for you.

The issue seems to have started when our host site migrated the site to another server. I have a query in with the webmaster, and hopefully we can get this annoying issue fixed.

One other thing Alex. Not sure if this has been discussed but when you click on links, you automatically navigate away from the YCCC site to the external link. Is that a decsion that has been made because it is more normal (and I would suggest preferable) if the link automatically opens in a new tab/window and the WRF page remains on the existing tab. Not a killer issue but I often find myself drifting away from the site if I open a link to yep or cricinfo.

I hope that makes sense, thanks,
Tim

We'll take this up with the webmaster.

Thanks for the feedback.

I know this has nothing to do with the current thread so apologies...

I have been a Yorkshire Member for some 35 years.

After several years of reading and visiting, I decided two weeks ago to join the Forum.

I did what I thought was the necessary, supplying a pseudonym (under which I'd like to appear) and my real name (which I would prefer not to appaer but which I've no objection to the Forum administrator knowing). My "application" was processed but with my real name appearing on the Forum and no sign of the pseudonym. I therefore sent an e-mail to the Forum saying that I'd intended to appear under the pseudonym. This met with a reply to the effect that an attempt to switch the names would be made within a couple of days. Since then (i.e over the past 12 days), I have heard nothing, despite a couple of reminder e-mails.

Can anyone help, please?

Bizarrely the spam has actually selected a relevant thread as the situation Dpresses described is happening again at the moment...

Hi, was nothing able to be done about links moving you away from the site on the forum? I see on the main site when I click on a (e.g.) bbc web page then a new window/tab is opened while leaving the YCCC page open.

Thanks....

Alas, these are software issues beyond our control. The system software is proprietary (unlike the "old" site were we had control of the code and HTML) and any changes are complex and very time-consuming. I'll take it up with the webmaster again, but I doubt if there is a fix. We haven't had much luck with several technical issues we would have like to have dealt with.
